Mr. Magesa is a World Class ICT Expert, Management, Leadership, Logistics and Port Infrastructure Consultant. He is a President of Tanzania Professionals Network (TPN) since 2011, former Vice president of Tanzania Basketball Federation – TBF (2009-2013), former Assistant Chief Commissioner of Tanzania Scouts Association – TSA (2006-2010), sportsman, trainer, Philanthropist and motivational speaker; He has participated in many events, workshops, seminars and conferences inside and outside of Tanzania.
Mr. Magesa has excellent records in academia, sports, social and corporate arenas.

Currently Mr. Magesa is the Director of Operations, Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA).

He holds MBA with distinction from Coventry University (UK), Post Graduate Diploma in Software development from NCCT (India), Bachelor of Science (Electronics) from University of Mysore (India); Diploma in IT from United States Telecommunications Training Institute (USTTI), Washington DC (USA), and Advanced Studies in Networking from Computer Training Center Manchester (UK). He has also attended several Management courses at ESAMI (Tanzania) and other short courses in Kenya, Swaziland, South Africa and Belgium. He has 18 years working experience at Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) and has been Director of Information and Communication Technology at TPA since Nov, 2012. He is professionally registered by the Engineering Council (EC), UK and member of Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), UK; Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE), USA and Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP), USA.

As Director of ICT at TPA Mr. Magesa has applied his knowledge and skills and contributed to transform the organization into a modern one in terms of using latest technologies in improving port operations. He was a National Project Manager for a BRN project known as electronic Single Window System aiming at transforming import and export business transactions in Tanzania; Mr. Magesa was also a project Manager for other major World Bank Projects at TPA incl. Integrated Security Systems (ISS) and team member of Dar Es Salaam Port Modernization Project aiming at improving berth 1-7 and construction of new Container terminal (berth 13 &14). Mr. Magesa is the designer of the first biggest Unified Communication System in Tanzania in 2007 and also he is the brain behind electronic payment system and Cargo & Vessel Management Information systems in use at the Port of Dar Es salaam and other ports.

Mr. Magesa currently serves in several world ports committees incl. member of International Associations of Ports & Harbours (IAPH) – Trade Facilitation & Ports Community Technical Committee since May 2013 and was a Member of the Jury for the World Ports IT Awards 2015.

Because of his excellent and active participation in professional assignments and consultancies Mr. Magesa was nominated for World Wide IT professional of the year award in 2009 by the NPA, San Diego, California, USA. He is also a recipient of medal from USA for outstanding achievement and was awarded a Coin of Excellency by the Hon.  Alfonso E. Lenhardt, United States Ambassador to Tanzania, August, 2011.

Mr. Magesa has written several publications including the one titled:  Making ICT departments cost effective in support of core business functions in an organization; case study of Tanzania Ports Authority (2012).

 

He has also done several scientific, technical and management presentations at various local and international conferences /meetings.

Ghana, United States of America, Romania, United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, France, Kenya, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Portugal and South Africa just to mention a few.
